Sadness

June 5th, 2008

MorticiaYesterday we had to put our 17 year old cat Morticia to sleep. She had kidney problems for a while now and it finally was just too much for her.

She was a really unique cat. Where other cats would run and hide when friends came over, Morticia never knew a stranger. She assumed everyone loved cats and would always rub up against them. If held, she would actually put her front paws on either side of their neck as though she was hugging them.

The vet was very sympathetic and gentle. She passed peacefully while we held her and stroked her head.

When I was preparing her wooden wine box casket I noticed a huge moth had flown in and landed by her. It gently flapped its wings and then it too died. I buried her in a spot under a shade tree in our backyard.

Morticia we will miss you. You were a great cat.

Looks like Cosmo will miss her too.

What sort of things are you doing to keep the Black dog at bay during this time? Did you see the story about Tatum O’Neal and how she was going to turn to crack cocaine to get over loosing her dog?

I’m actually doing okay. She had a good life and it was her time. It’s been a long time coming and I think I had gotten used to the idea of her passing. It really does help being with a pet when they go and knowing they just slipped away very peacefully.

I saw an interview with Tatum a while back and she came across as a good woman whose had a really tough life. I hope she can get it together.

Sorry to hear about Morticia, she sounds like she was a great cat.
Fantastic name though for a black cat and lovely photo of her and Cosmo.

Thanks Zania I appreciate that. She was named after Morticia Addams of the Addams family because she was all black and slender.

My heartfelt feelings for your loss. I have a “young lady” cat, black as Morticia was.
May she play a lot in kitty´s heaven.

    hugs
