Happy Halloween
October 31st, 2008
I’ve always loved a good movie. Even a really bad one can be fun at times. I’ve found the better the movie, the more likely it is that I got completely absorbed into the story and forgot about ‘me’. For 2 hours I became absorbed in another reality.
Is our real life with the black dog really any different? We are in the movie that is our life, we over-identify with all the characters and emotions flickering before our eyes.
Take a step back, a deep breath and realize that you are not your emotions. Your sadness and anxiety are just parts of the plot line. They’ll come and go, but just like a movie on the big screen, they are empty.
This is where mindfulness meditation has really helped me. It enables me to observe what’s going on without becoming attached to it.
Take a break, grab a soda & some popcorn and watch an old movie.

Sometimes it’s so ’simple’, isn’t it!
Life has been a little hectic around here lately, I don’t think I’ve sat down and dedicated the time to a proper bout of meditation, and just’being’ for a while.
Yesterday at lunchtime I was sitting, and suddenly realised just how quickly the last few months have slipped away, and had that sensation of one day blurring into the next, just one constant stream of tasks, stimuli, and ‘things’ in general. That’s when I realised that I NEED to make the time to sit, and just ‘be’.
Thanks so much for the reminder! I’ve got a four day weekend here, so I WILL set some good, quality time aside. Thankyou!!!

It is ironic isn’t it Steve? Our investment in the simplest of things often have the greatest returns.
I hope you have a great 4 days off. Any big plans or are you keeping it simple?!

No real plans as such, I’m hoping to get to the beach one day, either the dog beach so my little buddy can have a good old run around, or the surf beach, so “I” can have some fun! Otherwise, not too much, might headto the hills for a bit of a bushwalk (bought a new hiking backpack the other day), we’ll see… Didn’t get any ‘trick or treat’ing kids last night, thankfully! (Yes, it’s become big over here in the last year or so!

Wow, the beach sounds great as does a hike through the bush. I’ve always wanted to visit the down under. Enjoy
